Challenge

Operating as a company of one, Jeff manages a massive, critical archive of more than 4 million photos spread across two locations. Before switching to QNAP, he relied on other RAID systems, such as Drobo. However, these previous systems lacked robust software offerings, which created significant problems when attempting tasks like remote synchronization.

Solution

To resolve his storage and synchronization challenges, Jeff deployed two free-standing 8-bay QNAP NAS units in separate physical locations.

Primary Server: A TVS-h874 serves as the main storage unit.
Remote Backup: A TS-832PX is located in the Sacramento area to act as a secure remote backup.
Storage Capacity: Both units are equipped with 100TB of storage space.
Network Infrastructure: Each NAS unit is plugged directly into local routers.
Data Synchronization: With setup assistance from the QNAP team, Jeff configured the Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS) app to automatically synchronize the NAS drives every morning at 1:00 AM.
