Important Notes

  • QuTS hero does not support downgrading from h5.1.x to h5.0.1 or earlier. Downgrading firmware can be risky. Please make sure you fully understand and accept the risks if you decide to downgrade your firmware.
  • Apple recently fixed an issue that caused macOS computers with an M1 or M2 CPU to occasionally disconnect from Thunderbolt 4 connections. Please update your macOS to version 13.5.1 or later to ensure a stable connection with your QNAP Thunderbolt 4 devices.
  • This version is released in a staged rollout, which means we initially release this version to a small portion of users and then gradually reach more users over time.

Security Updates

  • Applied multiple security updates to further enhance system security.

Enhancements

Storage & Snapshots
  • The extended power condition (EPC) feature of certain SATA drives is now disabled by default. This ensures that the drives' load cycle count does not increase on its own, so that the system can correctly determine when the drives should go into standby mode.

Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue where a user configuring 2-step verification could not view the security key clearly if the interface language was set to German.
  • Fixed an issue in Resource Monitor > Storage Resource > Storage Space, where under certain conditions an incorrect value would be displayed under "Other".
  • Improved the stability of NTFS ADS metadata after a NAS restart.
  • Fixed a Hungarian translation issue on the desktop dashboard.
  • Improved file upload speeds.
  • Addressed an issue where under rare conditions File Station could not create a share link for a file or folder.
  • Fixed an issue in File Station where certain table columns in the Background Task window were incorrectly named and could not be hidden.
  • Fixed a rare problem where under certain conditions File Station disappeared from Main Menu.
  • Improved the file access permission mechanism for folders with symbolic links.
  • HBS 3 now correctly transfers file ACL permissions for domain users in RTRR one-way sync jobs from a QTS NAS to a QuTS hero NAS.
  • Fixed an issue in HBS 3 where after syncing a folder with Windows ACL permissions from a QTS NAS to a QuTS hero NAS, domain users could not access the destination folder even though they could access the source folder.
  • Fixed an issue on NAS models with HDMI output where after connecting the NAS to an HDMI device and installing HybridDesk Station, the NAS would stop responding after a restart.
  • Resolved an issue where some users experienced sudden disconnection of iSCSI service to an ESXi host.
  • Improved the keyword filter exclusion mechanism in Notification Center notification rules.
  • Fixed an issue in Notification Center where a notification rule would fail to send email notifications from certain SMTP servers if the setting "Send email as plain text" was enabled.
  • Resolved an issue where after configuring a one-time power schedule, opening the "Application Management" panel in Qboost would cause the desktop browser page to stop responding.
  • Improved the file permission mechanism in Qysnc Client.
  • Fixed an issue where QuLog Center recorded multiple logs for each failed RADIUS user login attempt.
  • Resolved an issue in QuLog Center where when grouping log entries by date, some entries would be grouped under the wrong date.
  • Fixed an issue where some users could not open Microsoft Office files via SMB if those files had an alternate data stream (ADS).
  • Resolved an issue in HybridMount where uploading a file from a PC file manager to a remote mount via Samba would cause the file modification time to be updated.
  • Fixed an issue where if a local NAS account username was identical to a domain account username, after changing the password of the local NAS account, the user could not use the new password to log in to the NAS via Samba.
  • Resolved an issue where when searching NAS files and folders using Windows File Explorer, empty folders in the search results could not be opened.
  • Resolved an issue for some users where file transfers via SMB could sometimes fail to transfer all files when hidden files were included.
  • Fixed an issue where a SnapSync job might fail after configuring the destination snapshot retention limit and then deleting the source snapshots.
  • Improved NFS connection stability for SnapSync jobs.
  • Improved the special permission mechanism for shared folders.
  • Addressed an issue where under certain rare conditions DA Drive Analyzer would fail to upload disk analysis data.
  • Fixed an issue where disk quotas did not apply to users whose usernames consisted of certain characters only.
  • Improved storage performance by optimizing temporary file management.
  • Addressed an issue in Resource Monitor > Storage Resource where the "Shared Folder/LUN Activity" page would display the same activity between two shared folders or LUNs even though one of the shared folders or LUNs' parent storage pool was offline.
  • Resolved an issue in Storage & Snapshots where after running a disk test that resulted in a read failure, the disk health summary page occasionally did not display the correct warning description.
  • Storage & Snapshots now correctly displays the disk mode for SSDs as "Active" or "Standby" (previously "Active (Spinning)" or "Standby (Spindown)").
  • Resolved an issue in Storage & Snapshots where a disk's SED status was inconsistent between the "Overview" page and the "Disks/VJBOD > Disks" page.
  • Fixed an issue for some users where after a firmware update, SATA M.2 SSDs on the QM2-2S-220A expansion card could not wake up from standby mode.
  • Fixed a rare problem where a QSAL-enabled storage pool might stop responding under certain conditions.
  • Resolved an issue for some users where after updating the firmware, shutting down the NAS would result in a restart.
