How to fix a broken MAC address (for Legacy firmware)?

Last modified date: 2021-09-09

If you found MAC address of NAS is changed to 00:00:00:00:05:09 (sometime NAS reports External Lan Card Changed), please use the following commands to repair the MAC address (replace the MAC address with the one written on the sticker behind your NAS).

Procedure

1.ssh access to the NAS

2. Please follow this guide to find out whether your NAS is running HAL or Legacy firmware,

3. If your NAS only has a single LAN interface:

# set_mac 00:08:9b:12:34:56

If your NAS is with dual LAN interface (eth0 is LAN port 1, eth1 is LAN port 2):

# iface_set_mac eth0 00:08:9b:12:34:56

# iface_set_mac eth1 00:08:9b:12:34:57
