Why can’t I use the full capacity of a shared folder in an HA cluster?

  • QuTS hero h5.3.0 or later
  • High Availability Manager 1.0 or later

Answer

In a high-availability (HA) cluster, the system reserves a portion of each shared folder’s space (approximately 8 GB) to ensure that background HA processes can continue to run under low‑space conditions.

Recommendation

When the available space in a shared folder drops below the reserved portion, write failures or deletion failures may occur. Simply expanding the storage pool does not immediately resolve this issue—you must free up some space first.

You can free up space by performing one or more of the following actions:

  • Permanently delete unwanted files
    1. Open File Station.
    2. Open the shared folder.
    3. Select all unwanted files.
    4. Right-click and select Delete.
      A confirmation message appears.
    5. Select Delete permanently, and then click OK.
The system permanently deletes the selected files.
  • Delete files in the shared folder’s recycle bin
    1. Open File Station.
    2. Open the shared folder.
    3. Open the "@Recycle" folder.
    4. Select all unwanted files.
    5. Right-click and select Delete.
      A confirmation message appears.
    6. Select Delete permanently, and then click OK.
The system permanently deletes the selected files.
