Procedure

Follow these steps to safely remove a LUN (Logical Unit Number) from your iSCSI storage environment.

Step 1: Disable the iSCSI Target

This step ensures that no connections are active while modifying the LUN.

  1. Open an application named "iSCSI and Fiber Channel".
  2. Go to iSCSI Storage.
  3. Find the target that the LUN is associated with.
  4. Click Action > Disable.
  5. A warning will pop up about interrupting active connections. Click OK to confirm.
  6. The target status should now show as Disabled.

Step 2: Unmap the LUN

This removes the LUN from the currently mapped target without deleting it.

  1. Click Action > Edit LUN Mapping.
  2. In the pop-up window, select Unmap for the desired LUN.
  3. Click OK.
  4. The LUN will now be listed under Unmapped LUNs.

Step 3: Delete the LUN

Only perform this if you are sure you no longer need the data on the LUN.

  1. Select the LUN (e.g., LUN_0) from the list.
  2. Click Action > Delete.
  3. Click Apply to confirm the deletion.

Step 4: Final Confirmation

Once the above steps are complete, the LUN will be permanently removed from the system.
