Why the data volumes become unmounted after firmware downgrading from QTS 5.0 and what to do?

Last modified date: 2022-06-24

Applicable Products:

  • QTS 5.0

Due to the infrastructure of SSD Cache Acceleration in QTS 5.0 is not compatible with older versions of QTS, the data volumes with SSD Cache applied become unmounted after downgrading. Upgrading the firmware back to QTS 5.0 is able to bring the data volumes online.

If you find the data volumes become unmounted after firmware downgrading from QTS 5.0, please upgrade to QTS 5.0 again.

If downgrading the firmware from QTS 5.0 to an older version is required , please remove SSD cache in QTS 5.0 before downgrading the QTS firmware.

  • Follow the procedures to properly remove SSD cache
  1. Find Control Panel > Storage & Snapshot > Cache Acceleration
  2. Turn off SSD cache service and wait for flushing finish
  3. Click Manage and Remove SSD cache
  4. Press Ok if prompt
  • After removing SSD cache from Cache Acceleration , you can now downgrade the QTS 5.0 to an older version.
