Note
This article relates to the can't-delete-files issue in QES. If you encounter this issue in QTS, go to My volume status is "Read/Delete". What does this mean?.

Root Cause

If the network recycle bin is enabled when a file is deleted, the system must rewrite some metadata before moving the file to the network recycle bin.

But if the file's storage pool is full then this metadata rewriting process fails, causing the file deletion process to fail.

Workaround

A workaround for this issue is to disable the network recycle bin before deleting files:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Network Recycle Bin.
  2. Deselect Enable Network Recycle Bin.
  3. Click Apply.
  4. Delete file until the pool space is sufficient.
  5. You can Enable Network Recycle Bin again.
