What do I do if the system is prompting temperature threshold reached warning messages for the m.2 drives

Last modified date: 2020-11-17

Applied models:

  • All NAS Series

Applied Firmware:

  • 4.4.1 or above

It is fairly normal for an m.2 drive to reach a high temperature during operation. It is thus recommended to install heat sinks to keep them cooled. You could use the QNAP heat sink (can be purchased from our online accessory storage http://shop.qnap.com/) or any third party heat sink that is suitable for your SSD model.

If the message is still prompting, you could confirm the normal operating temperature of the m.2 drive from the manufacturer specification, and then adjust the threshold temperature higher, as the default temperature set may be lower than the specification of the m.2 drive you are using. This can be done from Storage and Snapshots > Disks/VJBOD > select the drive and click on “Disk Health” > Settings.
