How to use the console port to check the system information on a managed switch?

Overview

You can use the console port to manage the switch using CLI commands.

Prerequisites

An RS-232C cable with a USB connector for the QSW-M120x series
An RJ-45 cable with a USB connector for the QSW-M408 series

Procedure

Identify the console port on the switch.
Connect the RS-232C or RJ45 connector to the console port on the managed switch.
Connect the USB connector of the cable to a PC.
Install a serial port configuration tool, for example, PuTTY, Tera Term, or ProComm.
Open the serial console tool.
Specify the serial port configuration as 115200,8,N,1,N.
Note
The parameters "115200,8,N,1,N" denotes a baud rate of 115200, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control.
Log in to QSS.
Enter the following command: show system-information

QSS displays the system information.
