You can use the console port to manage the switch using CLI commands.

Prerequisites

  • An RS-232C cable with a USB connector for the QSW-M120x series
  • An RJ-45 cable with a USB connector for the QSW-M408 series

Procedure

  1. Identify the console port on the switch.
  2. Connect the RS-232C or RJ45 connector to the console port on the managed switch.
  3. Connect the USB connector of the cable to a PC.
  4. Install a serial port configuration tool, for example, PuTTY, Tera Term, or ProComm.
  5. Open the serial console tool.
  6. Specify the serial port configuration as 115200,8,N,1,N.
    Note
    The parameters "115200,8,N,1,N" denotes a baud rate of 115200, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control.
  7. Log in to QSS.
  8. Enter the following command: show system-information

QSS displays the system information.
