Email notifications fail after updating to QTS 5.2.4 – Fixed in QTS 5.2.5

Symptom
An issue was identified in QTS 5.2.4 where the Notification Center failed to send email alerts. This was caused by a side effect of a security patch, which unintentionally disrupted the SMTP service.
Root cause
A security fix in QTS 5.2.4 unintentionally caused the SMTP service to malfunction, resulting in failed email notifications.
Solution
QNAP has fixed this issue in QTS 5.2.5. To resolve the notification problem, follow these steps:
- Update to QTS 5.2.5 or Later:
- Open Control Panel > System > Firmware Update.
- Click Check for Update and install QTS 5.2.5 or a later version.
- Verify Notification Settings:
- Log in to the Web Admin Page.
- Go to App Center > Notification Center.
- Check and reconfigure the SMTP settings if needed.
- Use the “Send a test email” function to confirm that notifications are working.
