Overview

QNAP NAS devices can be reset using hardware or software options. Some reset methods restore settings while retaining user data, while others delete all data and settings. Review each method below, and always back up your data before performing any reset.

Hardware reset

Hardware resets require physical access to the rear of the NAS.

  1. Locate the reset button on the rear panel of your NAS.
  2. Use a paper clip or similar blunt object to gently press and hold the reset button until you feel a small click.
  3. Maintain pressure and follow one of these reset options:
    OptionDescription
    Short press (3 seconds)

The NAS beeps once to indicate a successful reset.

    • Your data remains intact.
    • The following settings are restored to default:

      • Security level: Set to Low (allows all connections)
      • Service binding: All NAS services available on all interfaces
      • System port: Set to 8080
      • Network (TCP/IP) settings: Switched to DHCP, disables Jumbo Frame and VLANs,
Port Trunking set to Active Backup (on dual LAN models)
    Long press (10 seconds)

Two beeps: one at 3 seconds and another at 10 seconds.
