QES needs space to store information required for the operating system (including system configuration files, user data, and permissions). To let the system work properly, system disks must be allocated during system initialization. System disks can be hard drives or SSDs (SSDs are recommended). The ES1640dc v2 uses slots 1-4 (the bottom 4 slots at the front of the NAS) as system drives.
The ES1640dc v2's system disks are located on the bottom row at the front of the NAS.
