The YouTube channel "Bujovideolab" was started in 2016 and mainly focuses on reviews and comments on popular movies. Bujo's reviews focuses mainly on visual aspects, story, cinematography, highlights and expectations for sequels. Bujo's knowledge and insights have become an important guide for fans to learn more about recently-released movies. Currently Bujo has reviewed over 600 movies and has more than 70,000 subscribers.
In 2017, Bujo teamed up with like-minded YouTubers "XXY Animal of Vision", "Chaolifang" and "Baoni" to create "Extra Churros" - a show that provides news and opinions of popular movies. The Extra Churros YouTube channel has gathered about 460,000 subscribers, and its official Facebook fan group has more than 42,000 followers.
Before becoming a full-time YouTuber, Bujo had already created a number of personal audio-visual works, and the files are mainly stored in computers and external hard drives. These files took a hit when a hard drive failed. Even though the files were recovered, the process was extremely expensive. This made Bujo seriously consider deploying a storage solution that would combine high capacity, data security and backup convenience for long-term use.
In the past, Bujo stored completed works on his computer. If he wanted to modify the file while on a business trip or going out for a meeting, he would have to copy the file to an external hard disk and then update the file on his computer after he got back. This led to many inconveniences in copying and modifying files, such as potential data loss, inconsistent video formats, and slow and time-consuming transmission of large files. Professional YouTube broadcasters spend lots of time and effort on their work, and data security is extremely important.
After careful evaluation and consideration of future storage expansion requirements, Bujo chose the affordable QNAP TS-453Be Multimedia NAS as their storage solution. The TS-453Be is equipped with an Intel® Celeron® J3455 quad-core 1.5 GHz processor. It also features a PCIe slot for adding M.2 SSDs, 10GbE connectivity, and wireless access to the NAS. The TS-453Be supports H.264 hardware decoding and conversion, and supports real-time multimedia transcoding to multiple devices. The smart QTS operating system also offers a wide range of apps to improve productivity, file management, and multimedia.
With the File Station, Bujo can upload finished videos to a shared folder, and these videos will become instantly available to all linked devices. This greatly helps when they need to find the most up-to-date version of files. The Qfile mobile app is also used to securely access NAS-based files when out-of-office. With their smooth network environment, the entire team can securely access and update their files using their workstation or mobile device, making online collaborative work much easier.
As their business took off, Bujo began a European Tourism VLOG series filming projects. Since the film names uploaded to NAS at the end of each shooting are very similar, they often confuse editors during the post-production process. Therefore, Bujo used Qfiling to archive files based on their unique qualities. Qfiling automatically organizes files on the NAS based on user-defined settings, allowing users to quickly find the files they need.
Creativity and inspiration are hard to come by, so every creation is irreplaceable. The TS-453Be supports snapshots, including whole-machine snapshots and on a scheduled basis. If files are accidentally deleted or modified, their content can be easily restored based on what was captured in a snapshot. This modern backup mechanism also helps users to mitigate the potential impacts of threats such as ransomware.
In addition to data backup and security, Bujo's large number of YouTube finished videos also require a mass storage device to manage the growing video footage. The TS-453Be supports a raw capacity of up to 56TB. If needed, this can be expanded by using QNAP UX-800P or UX-500P expansion enclosures. They can also use the unused space of other QNAP NAS to expand the TS-453Be by using VJBOD.
Bujo opted to use Seagate IronWolf 4TB drives with their TS-453Be. Seagate IronWolf hard drives were especially designed for NAS usage, and come with the IronWolf Health Management System (IHM) to assist in determining the status of hard drives. The IHM can be set on a regular schedule to provide timely information about drive health and status. Seagate also provide various Rescue Data Recovery Service Plans to assist in recovering data in the event of drive failure.
The convenient file sharing function provided by QNAP TS-453Be greatly increased Bujo's efficiency. With the efficient Qfiling automatic archiving function, the team no longer needs to spend a time organizing files; storage space and flexible expansion features also freed the team from worries about future storage needs. For Bujo and his team, the TS-453Be's backup features and the peace-of-mind provided by Seagate's IronWolf Health Management System (IHM) and Rescue Data Recovery Service Plans also help to create a trustworthy storage solution they can rely on for years to come.
