How to use Download Station

Introduction

This tutorial explains how to manage downloads and other tasks with Download Station.

Installing Download Station

  1. Log in to QTS.
  2. Open App Center.
  3. Search for Download Station.
  4. Click Install.
    Download Station installs
  5. Click Open.

Adding download tasks from a URL

  1. Click
  2. Click Input URL.
    The Create Task window appears.
  3. Add multiple URLs (HTTP/FTP/Magnet link /FlashGet/Thunder/QQDL) to the text area.
  4. Click Next.

Adding download tasks from a Torrent File

  1. Drag and drop a BT file into the main area of Download Station.

Adding Download Tasks Using the Search Function

  1. Click the search bar in the top-right corner.
  2. Enter a search string.
  3. Select a search engine from the drop-down list.
  4. Click .
    Matching downloads are displayed in the list

Adding Download Tasks from RSS Feeds

  1. Click RSS.
  2. Click
  3. Configure the RSS Download Manager settings.
    1. Label: A descriptive title for the feed.
    2. Feed URL: The URL of the feed.
    3. Location of Temporary Files: Where downloaded files will be temporarily stored (with the extension dsdownload).
    4. Move the completed downloads to: Where fully-downloaded files will be stored.
  4. Click Apply.
    Download Station retrieves the files in the RSS Feed
  5. Select a file to download from the list.
  6. Click
  7. The Create Task window appears
  8. Configure the Create Task settings.
    1. Location of Temporary Files: Where downloaded files will be temporarily stored (with the extension dsdownload).
    2. Move the completed downloads to: Where fully-downloaded files will be stored.
    3. Use credentials: Only use if the download requires user credentials.
  9. Click Apply.

Limiting Download/Upload Speeds

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Click HTTP, FTP, or BT.
  3. Click Bandwidth Limit.
  4. Under Global maximum download rate set a limit in kilobytes.

Scheduling Downloads

  1. Go to Settings > Global > Download Schedule.
  2. Check Enable download schedule.
  3. Select either Turn off, Full speed, or Limited and click entries on the Date/Time table to set your preferred time slots.

Sending Email Notifications when Download Tasks Completes

  1. Go to Settings > Global > Notification.
  2. Switch the E-mail notification function on.

Allowing General Users to Access Download Station

  1. Go to the App Center.
  2. Search for Download Station.
  3. Click the arrow next to Open.
  4. Go to Display on.
  5. Select Every user’s menu or Every user’s main menu and as an App shortcut on the login screen.
  6. Exit the App Center
  7. Go to Control Panel > Privilege > Users > Application Privilege
  8. Check the Grant box to enable Download Station access privileges for general users.
