Important Notes

• Storage pools created in QuTS hero h5.0.1 (or later versions) cannot be imported to QuTS hero h5.0.0 (or earlier versions).
• Out-of-the-box QuTS hero h5.0.1 automatically installs security updates by default. Nevertheless, if you update the firmware from QuTS hero h5.0.0 to h5.0.1, QuTS hero will keep your existing firmware update settings. We recommend checking your firmware update settings in Control Panel > Firmware Update.
• Removed support for the following developer tools: Python 2, Node.js v4, Node.js v6, Node.js v8, and Ruby on Rails.
• Removed support for the following apps or tools: Mono, Perl, and AlarmClock. We recommend running these apps or tools using Container Station if needed.

New Features

Control Panel

• You can now choose to disable USB ports to block the use of all USB devices or only USB storage devices.
• Administrators can now enforce 2-step verification on specific users or groups and then check their current verification status. After this enforcement, selected users must complete 2-step verification setup before proceeding to other operations.

Desktop & Login

• You can now configure the desktop icon size and font size in Desktop > Task Bar > Options > Wallpaper.

File Station

• You can now share a shared folder via a share link in File Station.
• File Station now supports remembering share link settings.
• File Station can now calculate file and folder sizes in the background to enhance computing performance.

SAMBA

• QuTS hero now supports Microsoft Windows Search Protocol. This allows you to perform quick searches for files and folders in NAS shared folders mounted on Windows 10 via SMB.

• Added support for LUN Encryption to enhance data security.
• Storage & Snapshots now supports enabling or disabling Native Command Queuing (NCQ).

Control Panel

• When creating users, you can now choose to force users to change their password upon their first login.
• You can now specify a custom UID for a non-administrator when creating a user or editing user settings.
• QTS now supports access protection settings for RTRR and Rsync protocols in Control Panel > System > Security.
• Enhanced firmware update features in Control Panel to provide more options and clearer notifications. You can now configure more settings for update actions, update schedule, and firmware update types.
• The default UPS policy is now set to "auto-protection mode" after NAS initialization.
• QTS now displays a warning message in Control Panel > System > Hardware > Hardware Resources when you select a graphics card installed on a PCIe slot that does not support PCIe passthrough.

Known Issues

• macOS Finder takes a long time to display content in SMB shared folders when users connect the Mac to the NAS via Thunderbolt. This problem may be due to Mac device driver issues. It only occurs to Mac devices with Intel processors and macOS 11 (or later versions).
• QTS and QuTS hero with newer kernel versions do not support ATTO Fibre Channel adapters. If you have already installed an ATTO Fibre Channel adapter on your device, we do not recommend updating the firmware to QTS 5.0.0 or QuTS hero h5.0.0 (or later versions) for the time being.

Other Changes

App Center

• For security concerns, QuTS hero no longer supports adding app shortcuts on the login screen.

Control Panel

• To ensure device security, the "admin" account cannot use the default password (the MAC address of the first network adapter). The system now asks the user to change the password when logging in with this default password.
• Removed certain device information from the login screen to enhance device security.

Desktop & Login

• Instead of using the generic alias "appuser", QuLog Center and Desktop Dashboard now display actual usernames when users access system resources and services via a client app.

License

• You no longer need a license to operate QuTScloud installed in Virtualization Station. Note that License Center 1.7.5 (or later) is required for this change.

SAMBA

• The lowest SMB version is now SMB 2 by default.

Storage & Snapshots

• You can now check Snapshot Agent list on the action menu in Storage & Snapshots > Storage/Snapshots > Snapshot.
• For a more intuitive workflow, Storage & Snapshots now shows various options (such as "Remove" and "Expand") on the "Action" menu in Pool/Volume Management.
• Storage & Snapshots now provides clearer information for the results of IronWolf Health Management (IHM) tests. This allows you to easily check the health of your IronWolf drives.

• Beheerders kunnen nu authenticatie in twee stappen afdwingen voor specifieke gebruikers of groepen en vervolgens hun huidige verificatiestatus controleren. Na deze afdwinging moeten geselecteerde gebruikers het instellen van authenticatie in twee stappen voltooien voordat ze verder gaan met andere bewerkingen.

Bureaublad & Inloggen

• U kunt nu de grootte van het bureaubladpictogram en de lettergrootte configureren in Bureaublad > Taakbalk > Opties > Achtergrond.

File Station

• U kunt nu een gedeelde map delen via een deellink in File Station.
• File Station ondersteunt nu het onthouden van instellingen voor gedeelde koppelingen.
• File Station kan nu bestands- en mapgroottes op de achtergrond berekenen om de computerprestaties te verbeteren.

SAMBA

• QuTS hero ondersteunt nu Microsoft Windows Search Protocol. Hierdoor kunt u via SMB snel zoeken naar bestanden en mappen in gedeelde NAS-mappen die op Windows 10 zijn aangekoppeld.

Opslag en snapshots

• Ondersteuning toegevoegd voor LUN-codering om gegevensbeveiliging te verbeteren.
• Opslag en snapshots ondersteunt nu het in- of uitschakelen van Native Command Queuing (NCQ).
• Opslag en snapshots geeft nu topologiediagrammen weer voor SAS JBOD-uitbreidingsbehuizingen om de indeling van uw opslagapparaten te helpen visualiseren.
• Ondersteuning toegevoegd voor de Seagate Exos E 2U12 JBOD. Deze functie bevindt zich nog in de bètatestfase. Voor officiële ondersteuning is een vergunning vereist.

Verbeteringen

Configuratiescherm

• Bij het aanmaken van gebruikers kunt u er nu voor kiezen om gebruikers te dwingen hun wachtwoord te wijzigen bij hun eerste login.
• U kunt nu een aangepaste UID opgeven voor een niet-beheerder bij het maken van een gebruiker of het bewerken van gebruikersinstellingen.
• QTS ondersteunt nu instellingen voor toegangsbeveiliging voor RTRR- en Rsync-protocollen in Configuratiescherm > Systeem > Beveiliging.
• Verbeterde firmware-updatefuncties in het Configuratiescherm voor meer opties en duidelijkere meldingen. U kunt nu meer instellingen configureren voor updateacties, updateschema en typen firmware-updates.
• Het standaard UPS-beleid is nu ingesteld op "auto-beveiligingsmodus" na NAS-initialisatie.
• QTS geeft nu een waarschuwingsbericht weer in Configuratiescherm > Systeem > Hardware > Hardware-bronnen wanneer u een grafische kaart selecteert die is geïnstalleerd in een PCIe-sleuf die PCIe-passthrough niet ondersteunt.
• Bij het importeren van gebruikers kunt u er nu voor kiezen om geïmporteerde gebruikers te verplichten hun wachtwoord te wijzigen bij hun eerste aanmelding.

File Station

• Bijgewerkte CloudConvert API naar v2. File Station ondersteunt nu de weergave van de CloudConvert API-sleutelstatus.
• Ondersteuning toegevoegd voor de bibliotheek International Components for Unicode (ICU) om de sorteerconsistentie in verschillende talen te verbeteren.
• Gewijzigd UI-ontwerp en workflow in File Station om de gebruikerservaring te verbeteren.
• File Station geeft nu opslaginformatie weer in het volumecontextmenu (in plaats van het bestandscontextmenu) voor een betere bruikbaarheid.
• U kunt nu meerdere bestanden selecteren en downloaden via een deellink. U kunt nu ook gedeelde bestanden bekijken met miniaturen.

Helpcentrum

Netwerk en virtuele switch

• Netwerk en virtuele switch geeft nu de maximale transmissie-eenheid (MTU) van netwerkinterfaces weer.

Bekende problemen

• macOS Finder doet er lang over om inhoud in gedeelde SMB-mappen weer te geven wanneer gebruikers de Mac via Thunderbolt met de NAS verbinden. Dit probleem kan te wijten zijn aan problemen met Mac-apparaatstuurprogramma's. Het komt alleen voor bij Mac-apparaten met Intel-processors en macOS 11 (of latere versies).
• QTS en QuTS hero met nieuwere kernelversies ondersteunen geen ATTO Fibre Channel -adapters. Als u al een ATTO Fibre Channel -adapter op uw apparaat hebt geïnstalleerd, raden we u voorlopig niet aan om de firmware bij te werken naar QTS 5.0.0 of QuTS hero h5.0.0 (of latere versies).

Overige wijzigingen

App Center

• Om veiligheidsredenen ondersteunt QuTS hero niet langer het toevoegen van app-snelkoppelingen op het inlogscherm.

Configuratiescherm

• Om de veiligheid van het apparaat te garanderen, kan het "admin"-account niet het standaardwachtwoord gebruiken (het MAC-adres van de eerste netwerkadapter). Het systeem vraagt de gebruiker nu om het wachtwoord te wijzigen bij het inloggen met dit standaardwachtwoord.
• Bepaalde apparaatinformatie verwijderd uit het inlogscherm om de apparaatbeveiliging te verbeteren.

Bureaublad & Inloggen

• In plaats van de generieke alias "appuser" te gebruiken, QuLog Center en Desktop Dashboard nu daadwerkelijke gebruikersnamen weer wanneer gebruikers toegang krijgen tot systeembronnen en services via een client-app.

Vergunning
