QNAP Encourages Users to Extend Turbo NAS Capabilities with the QDK Version 2.0.1

Taipei, Taiwan, August 17, 2011 – QNAP® Systems, Inc. today confirmed the availability of QDK (QPKG Development Kit) version 2.0.1, and encouraged Turbo NAS users to extend the capabilities by developing software packages with the easy-to-use tool.

QDK is developed by Michael Nordström, one of QNAP community’s active users. It is used to build QNAP QPKG files and applications for the Turbo NAS. A QPKG file makes it easy for anyone to install and remove packages. It also gives a package maintainer good control on how the package is installed on the Turbo NAS.

“The major design goal of QDK is to make it easy for the package maintainer to create simple QPKG files and at the same time also support more advanced packages,” said Michael Nordström.

QNAP QPKG packages are developed and widely shared in the QNAP community. “The ones that have been verified by QNAP are available for download at QNAP’s website,” said Jason Hsu, product manager of QNAP. “Thanks to Mr. Michael Nordström’s effort, we encourage our users to leverage the newly available QDK version 2.0.1 to create more creative and productive applications for their Turbo NAS.”
