NAS default administrator password changed to Cloud Key starting from QTS/QuTS hero 5.2.0

Last modified date: 2025-09-12

Applicable Products

  • QTS 5.2.0 and later
  • QuTS hero h5.2.0 and later

Solution

Starting from QTS 5.2.0 and QuTS hero h5.2.0, the default administrator password is the device’s Cloud Key. Enter the Cloud Key in uppercase letters. For example, Q12345678.

This update improves security by eliminating universal default passwords. Previous versions used the MAC address of the first network interface (QTS 4.4.2–5.1.x) or "admin" (in even older releases).

Note: This change applies to new system initializations or factory resets. The password is not changed for systems that are upgraded and already have a custom administrator password.

Tip: You can find your NAS Cloud Key on the sticker attached to the NAS device or on the product packaging.
