Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS 3)

Symptom

When creating a backup job in HBS 3, if you select a destination folder that contains a subfolder with the same name as the backup job name, the following error message appears:

Background and Cause

By default, a backup job creates a backup folder with the same name as the job name in the specified destination folder.

Although you are not allowed to have two existing backup jobs with the same name on the same source NAS, you may encounter the above error message in one of the following likely scenarios:

  • You deleted the original backup job that created the backup folder in the destination folder, and then attempted to create a new backup job using the same job name and destination folder.
  • You created a backup job on one source NAS, and then attempted to create a backup job on a different source NAS using the same job name and destination folder.

Solutions

To resolve this issue, you can perform one of the following:

  • Specify a different name for the new backup job.
  • Select a different destination folder for the new backup job.
  • If the original backup job of the existing backup folder no longer exists or will not run again:
    • Move the existing backup folder to another location.
    • Rename the existing backup folder.
