What is a “Channel”?

A channel is an IP camera as a video source that is being captured by QVR Elite. Depending on the model, a camera may have multiple streams at the same time, but it will be considered as a sub-stream of a channel. Normally one channel is required per camera that is recording to QVR Elite.
However, it is possible to assign 2 channels to a single IP camera on one NAS, but it is not recommended because it will not work as a backup configuration if the NAS or the camera goes offline. In case a backup plan for NAS is needed, consider setting up a backup server with QVR Center or QVR Pro Guard.

Can I migrate the license from one NAS to another?  

Some licenses can be migrated from one NAS to another. Please refer to the license documentation. Please note the licenses should be de-activated before being migrated.
Contact QNAP customer support if the NAS is broken and unable to perform the license deactivation.

Does QVR Elite provide a free trial?

More than a trial, QVR Elite provides 2 channels for free. However, these channels are paired with the NAS and cannot be migrated to other devices.
