Can I rename the default "admin" account? if not,can I disable admin account?

No, the admin account can not be renamed, but the admin account can be disabled once you have created another user account and given it administrator privileges. You can then use this new account name to log in to the web administrator page of your NAS.

Important: The administrator's account for QTS is “admin” by default. Having a generic and easily-guessable name for a system-critical account is not recommended for security purposes, as it leaves a potential hacker with just the correct password to guess before they have full control over your system. To safeguard you against this scenario, we strongly recommend that you create another system administrator account and then disable the default "admin" account.

Here’s how to create new users:

  1. Open Control Panel and navigate to Privilege > Users
  2. Click on Create > Create a User
  3. Fill out the details of the user
  4. Click the “Edit” button next to User Group and put a checkmark next to “administrators” img
  5. Set the Shared Folder permissions

  6. Edit the Application Privileges

  7. Press “Create”
  8. You may now use this account to log in to the NAS. Once you are logged in with the new user, you may disable the default admin account. img

Note:

  1. The "admin" account cannot be disabled if you want to access the Turbo NAS via SSH or Telnet
  2. Only local NAS users can disable user accounts.
