Why is the shared folder of a remote disk in read-only mode? Adding or editing files on the remote disk gives an error.

A remote disk is a LUN from a remote storage server, connected to the local NAS using iSCSI. If the iSCSI connection between the local NAS and the storage server is temporarily disconnected, then the remote disk changes to read-only mode after the iSCSI connection resumes.

To restore the remote disk to full read-write mode, delete and then re-add the remote disk.

  1. Go to iSCSI & Fibre Channel > Remote Disk.
  2. Select a remote disk that is in read-only mode.
  3. Click Action, and then select Delete.
The remote disk is disconnected from the local NAS.
  4. Click Add Virtual Disk.
  5. Follow the wizard to re-add the remote disk.
The remote disk is reconnected to the NAS and is now writable.
