Answer

When creating a QuWAN organization, make sure that the first device you add to the mesh network is a hub. To create a mesh network, you require at least one hub.

Verify whether your device meets the QuWAN device role requirements first.

Hub Role Requirements

Hub is the primary device deployed in an SD-WAN region. To configure the device as a hub, make sure it meets the following requirements:

  • The device is assigned a valid public IP address.
  • Make sure that the device is not using a private IP address.
  • Make sure that the device is not configured using Network Address Translation (NAT) settings.
    Note
If you have configured NAT settings on the device and you want to set up the device as a hub, you must change the WAN IP attribute in QuWAN Orchestrator and enable port forwarding on the router that is configured in front of your device.
Configuring the WAN IP attribute settings on QuWAN Orchestrator
  1. Log in to QuWAN Orchestrator.
  2. Go to QuWAN Topology > Topology Settings.
  3. Click .
  4. Next to WAN IP attribute, click Check.
  5. Click Service Management Settings to configure dedicated VPN-accessible ports.
  6. Click Custom Service.
  7. Configure the service port settings.
    1. Specify the port name.
    2. Specify the port number.
    3. Select the protocol.
    4. Specify a port description.
    5. Click .
    6. Click OK.
  8. Next to WAN IP attribute, click Check.
  9. Select Hub as the device role.
  10. Click Save.
    Note
After configuring the dedicated service port settings and performing the WAN IP attribute check, QuWAN Orchestrator should attribute the device with Behind NAT (Device role-Hub or edge). If the device is not attributed with Behind NAT (Device role-Hub or edge), you must modify the port settings again by following the above steps.

Edge Role Requirements

A device deployed in an SD-WAN region that connects to a hub and can access centralized SD-WAN resources.

  • Ensure that you have configured a hub using a public IP address.
  • Make sure that there is at least one hub in the region that the edge can connect to.
