Why does HBS real-time sync from the cloud to my NAS take longer than uploading the same files from my computer to the cloud?

Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS)

Scenario

It only takes a few seconds to upload some files from my computer to OneDrive. Why does it take several minutes for the HBS real-time sync job to sync those same files from OneDrive to my NAS?

Reason

Real-time sync jobs in HBS do not actually always transfer data to the destination immediately after the source data is modified. Instead, they check and transfer data changes at regular intervals, known as the synchronization interval. A synchronization interval is necessary to balance between the system and network resources of both the source and destination.

While the real-time synchronization interval for syncing from the NAS to a cloud storage space is 60 seconds, the real-time synchronization interval for syncing from certain cloud storage spaces to the NAS is 300 seconds (5 minutes). These cloud storage spaces include Amazon Cloud, Google Drive, and OneDrive (SharePoint).

That means that if you upload your files from your computer to one of these cloud storage spaces 5 seconds after the beginning of a 300-second interval, HBS will start syncing those files from the cloud to your NAS after 295 seconds (4 minutes and 55 seconds). If you upload the files just before the beginning of a synchronization interval, then HBS will start syncing those files to your NAS very soon.

For this reason, it is normal for real-time sync jobs in HBS to sometimes take up to a few minutes to start syncing new or modified data from these cloud storage spaces to your NAS.
