Concept
If you've enabled the Restrict the access of Recycle Bin to administrators only for now setting, this issue is caused by differences in how File Station and Multimedia Console store deleted files within a Recycle Bin:
- File Station: There is a single Recycle Bin located in the root directory of the share folder. All files are sent to this Recycle Bin.
- Multimedia Console: There is a Recycle Bin located within each folder and subfolder. Files are sent to the Recycle Bin within the same folder.
Let's imagine two users on a system that has restricted Recycle Bin access:
- Normal user: User only has permission to access a subfolder within a File Station share folder. They can read, write, and delete anything within the folder or any subfolders, but can't access anything outside of the folder. If they accidently delete a file from this folder, it's moved to the Recycle Bin stored in the root directory for the share. They can't restore the file because it's located in a folder they don't have permission to access.
- QuMagie user: User only has permission to access a subfolder within a Multimedia Console share folder. They can read, write, and delete anything within the folder or any subfolders, but can't access anything outside of the folder. If they accidently delete a file from this folder, it's moved to the Recycle Bin stored within the same folder. They can still restore the file because it's located in a folder they have permission to access.
