QNAP Enhances NAS Initialization Process, Switches to Cloud Key as Default Password for Improved Security
Taipei, Taiwan, June 3, 2024 – QNAP® Systems, Inc. today announced the optimization of the NAS initialization process by changing the default password from the MAC Address to Cloud Key. This change enhances NAS security in compliance with increasingly stringent information security regulations.
This configuration change will be implemented in NAS running QTS 5.2 / QuTS hero h5.2 operating system or later versions. Users can obtain Cloud Key information from the label on the QNAP NAS body, and use the Cloud Key as the admin password after the NAS system initializes.
QNAP also advises users to immediately change the password after logging into the NAS using the initial password. When resetting the password, it is crucial to choose a strong password. Additionally, QNAP recommends considering passwordless login or enabling two-step verification to further enhance account security.
If you cannot find the Cloud Key on the NAS label, please contact QNAP support at support@qnap.com.
