Taipei, Taiwan, February 17, 2020 - QNAP® Systems, Inc. (QNAP), a leading computing, networking and storage solution innovator, today announced its intention to conduct a security assessment for the QmailAgent app based on the Google™ API Services User Data Policy.

During the security assessment process, users may not be able to access Gmail data using QmailAgent. QNAP aims to complete the required assessment as soon as possible, allowing users to manage and access Gmail data through QmailAgent with optimized data security protection.

Google’s strict security settings, enacted by the enforcement of the Google API Services User Data Policy, has made Gmail incompatible with older versions of QmailAgent and Google OAuth. As a result, Gmail security settings must be edited to add a new Gmail account or use an existing Gmail account in QmailAgent. To enable this feature, you must install the latest version of QmailAgent, enable the Less Secure App Access option in your Google Account, and then enable the IMAP option in your Gmail account.
