QNAP and NAKIVO Jointly Provide an All-in-one Backup Solution for VM Backup

Taipei, Taiwan, May 4, 2017 - QNAP® Systems, Inc. has teamed up with NAKIVO®, one of the fastest-growing virtualization and cloud backup software companies, to provide a high-performance yet affordable VM backup solution that is fully integrated with QNAP NAS. This joint solution contains all of the elements for disaster recovery: hardware to run restores, backup data, and backup software. Users can greatly benefit from the 1.9X backup speed boost when NAKIVO is deployed directly on a QNAP NAS, and enjoy a lower price versus other dedicated backup appliances.

NAKIVO Backup & Replicationis a fast, reliable, and affordable VM backup solution that supports agentless, application-aware VMware®, Hyper-V® and AWS® EC2 VM backup and replication. It offers advanced features that increase backup performance, improve reliability and speed up recovery, including global data deduplication and compression for reducing storage space, forever-incremental backups with CBT/RCT, LAN-free data transfer, fast VM and object recovery, backup copy, instant backup verification with screenshots of test-recovered VMs, and more. By installing NAKIVO Backup & Replication v7 directly from QNAP’s QTS App Center, users that require uncompromising VM protection can combine the powerful, secure, and feature-rich QNAP NAS storage with the easy-to-manage and comprehensive feature set of NAKIVO Backup & Replication.

“We are excited to extend our collaboration with QNAP by expanding support for their high-performance and reliable NAS products," said Bruce Talley, CEO of NAKIVO, adding "QNAP has garnered a reputation for creating gold-standard, virtualization-ready business and entry-level enterprise NAS devices. It is a pleasure working with their talented team and innovative products."

“NAKIVO provides excellent functionality and an affordable option for QNAP NAS users to back up VMs with a unified, single system,” said Jack Yang, Associate Vice President of Product Management at QNAP. “To fulfill intensive virtualization applications in modern IT infrastructures, we recommend the dual-controller Enterprise ZFS NAS as High-Availability VM storage, while users can easily leverage the QNAP-based NAKIVO VM backup solution for online backups from the Enterprise ZFS NAS to enjoy a complete virtualization-ready solution.”

NAKIVO also supports backing up VM copies from QNAP NAS to onsite/offsite storage or Amazon Cloud for double protection. Backup Copy jobs have their own schedule and recovery point retention policy to provide an efficient disaster recovery solution.
