QES 2.1.0 build 20190528

2019-06-05

Compatibility

  • TES-1885U/TES-3085U/TDS-16489U R2

Important Notes

New Features

  • Added support for the Mellanox Connect-3 driver and the iSCSI Extensions for RDMA (iSER) protocol. iSER allows data to be transferred directly into and out of SCSI memory buffers with minimal CPU usage.
  • Added support for SSD TRIM and UNMAP commands, to improve SSD performance.
  • Added Predictive S.M.A.R.T. Migration. If S.M.A.R.T. errors are detected on a disk or if an SSD has exceeded its endurance limit, QES can automatically start migrating data from the disk to a spare disk.
  • Added SSD Life. QES can monitor the remaining lifespan of solid-state drives.
  • Added Write Coalescing feature which optimizes random write performance.
  • Added SSD Over-Provisioning. You can reserve space on SSDs to increase random write performance and extend SSD lifespan.
  • Added Pool Over-Provisioning. You can reserve space in an all-flash storage pool to help ensure consistent random write performance when the pool is nearly full.
  • Added LUN groups to help organize, manage, and back up LUNs more easily.
  • Added Storage QoS (Quality of Service) to help manage the allocation of I/O within a storage pool.
  • Storage Manager has a new user interface.

Enhancements

  • The QES web user interface now prevents you from entering a reserved port as the system port or service port, instead of allowing you to enter a reserved port and then displaying a warning message in a new window.
  • Added support for SMTP server authentication when configuring email notifications.
  • Improved the performance of real-time SnapSync.
  • You can now specify an IPv6 IP address when adding a SnapSync host.
  • Added an option to delete all snapshots to the command line interface.
  • SnapSync now supports application consistent snapshots.
  • The system connection logs can now record more shared folder events, such as file creation, modification, and deletion.
  • You can use SSH with a 10GbE network interface.
  • When configuring a static IPv4 or IPv6 address, the IP address field can now be left blank.
  • QES now renames files with the same filename in the recycle bin, to prevent them from overwriting each other.
  • You can now select the network speed when configuring an interface.
  • You can access the QES web UI using a 10GbE network interface.
  • Added support for the Windows file attributes "Hidden" and "Archive".
  • Increased the maximum number of iSCSI sessions per iSCSI target from 64 to 256.
  • Increased the maximum number of iSCSI sessions per NAS storage controller from 256 to 512.
  • Added advanced system reset, which deletes all settings and reinitializes the system pool without erasing user data.
  • Snapshot Manager now displays the size of each snapshot.
  • You can now revert a mapped LUN without unmapping it first. QES automatically unmaps it before reverting and re-maps it after reverting has finished.

Other Changes

  • The "@" character is no longer allowed in shared folder names.
  • Change "Dedup Saving" to "Data Reduction" on the System Pool Info screen.
