Q:I've set up the NAS so far and also created a share, but I'm still asked to log in. I have enabled guests access to read/write.It is still asking for credentials. I would like to run the share completely anonymously (i.e. without login).

Important: The guest account requires no credentials to access your NAS. Consider and plan accordingly for what permissions you give the guest account and what data you allow the guest account to access.

  1. Log in to QTS as an administrator.

  2. Open Control Panel.

  3. Enable guests to view the shared folder list.

    1. Go to Network & File Services > Win/Mac/NFS > Microsoft Networking.
    2. Click Advanced Options.
    3. In Restrict anonymous users from access SMB shared folders select Disabled, Anyone can see the shared folder list. Guest account can access shared folder with permission.

  4. Modify guest account user permissions.

    1. Go to Privilege > Shared Folders > Shared Folder.

    2. Select a shared folder and click Edit Shared Folder Permission.

    3. Configure the Guest Access Right to:

      • Deny access
      • Read only
      • Full access
