How do I reset the account credential using the reset button on a managed switch?

If you configured your switch incorrectly and you are unable to access the QSS interface, you can perform a hard reset to reset the password of the switch.

Answer

  1. Connect the power cord to the electrical outlet.
  2. Power on the switch.
  3. Locate the reset button on the device.
  4. Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds.

The following settings are reset to default:

  • System administrator password: The default password is the first MAC address in uppercase letters without special characters. For example, if the first MAC address is 00-08-9BF6-15-75, then the admin password would be 00089BF61575.
Note
You can find the first MAC address with Qfinder Pro or attached to a label on the device listed as MAC1.
  • The admin account is automatically enabled.
