Download Station Common Issues

There are usually 2 kinds of common issues with Download Station:
- The user is unable to open the application
- The BT search is not working.
These 2 kinds of issues are most often caused by improper configuration.
What to do if I cannot open Download Station?
If the error message “Access denied” appears when opening Download Station
In this case, this is likely that the NAS user does not have permission to use Download Station. Please check this in Control Panel > Privilege > Users, and click on the “Application” icon to set the permission.

If when opening Download Station, it shows offline
This could be an issue with the NAS Web Server. Please try to stop and restart Download Station app from App Center, or restart the Web Server from Control Panel > Applications > Web Server

What to do if BT Search does not find any result?
The BT search function needs to be activated in Download Station settings. If not, it will not return any result.
You may want to check if that is still the case: Download Station > Settings > Global > Search

If the DNS server is not configured properly, Download Station may not be able to find results.
You may check the DNS server settings in Network & Virtual Switch. You could try to use Google DNS instead (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).

It is also possible that your ISP is blocking torrent websites, in which case the BT search would not work.
In that case, and if it is not possible to change that, you could try to configure a VPN client on the NAS.
