QuRouter 2.5

2025-01-16

QuRouter 2.5 brings many new features to enhance the security and improve the performance of your router. You can now benefit from WAN failover, policy-based routing, geolocation-based firewall blocking, and much more. See What's New to learn about main features and Other Changes to learn about other features, enhancements, and changes. We also include fixes for reported issues and provide information about known issues.

WAN Failover Configuration

The WAN failover feature allows you to configure backup internet connections to maintain network continuity. In the event of a primary WAN connection failure, the router automatically switches to a secondary WAN connection, ensuring uninterrupted network availability.

You can configure WAN failover by selecting the failover tier, enabling the failback option, and setting the load-balancing weight. These options allow the router to automatically switch to a backup connection when the primary WAN fails, ensuring continued network availability and reducing downtime during disruptions.

The WAN failover settings can be configured during the setup of the WAN interface connection, allowing for streamlined integration with your network infrastructure.

Note: WAN failover is exclusively supported on the QHora router series.

Policy-Based Routing

You can now create custom routing rules based on traffic characteristics such as IP address, port, or protocol. This function gives you greater control over how network traffic is directed, improving performance for critical applications or services. Policy-based routing is particularly useful for networks with multiple WAN connections or specific routing requirements. By defining routing rules, you can optimize bandwidth usage and ensure traffic flows efficiently across your network.

Geolocation-Based Firewall Blocking

The geolocation-based firewall blocking feature allows you to restrict or allow network access based on geographic locations. With an up-to-date GeoIP database, you can create rules to block traffic from specific countries or regions.

This feature is particularly useful for networks that need to mitigate threats from high-risk regions or comply with geographic access policies. You can customize the firewall rules to meet your requirements, ensuring that only traffic from approved locations is permitted.

By using geolocation-based firewall blocking, you can improve your network’s security and reduce exposure to threats based on geographic origin.

Other Changes

  • The maximum number of active VPN users supported by the QHora-321 and QHora-322 routers has increased from 10 to 100, offering greater capacity for larger networks.
