Why does my NAS keep trying to access “download.qnap.com”? Should I be concerned about security?

QTS periodically checks the status of NAS network connections, so that it can respond to changes in network connectivity. This feature is similar to the Microsoft NCSI (Network Connectivity Status Indicator) service in Windows. “download.qnap.com” is used to check whether a connection has full or limited internet access. You do not need to be concerned about security, as this feature only access the official QNAP website and does not keep any access logs.
