If an error message “General access denied error (0x80070005)” is shown when you try to use Microsoft Hyper-V to create VHDX virtual disk or virtual machine (VM) on the Turbo NAS via Microsoft Network Services, please follow the steps below to change the SMB version.
Turbo NAS version: QTS 4.0.5
- Login the Turbo NAS and go to “Control Panel” > “Network Services” > “Win/Mac/NFS” > “Microsoft Networking” > “Advanced Options”.
- Disable the option “Enable SMB 2”.
- Click “Apply”.

Turbo NAS version: QTS 4.1 or above
- Login the NAS and go to “Control Panel” > “Network Services” > “Win/Mac/NFS” > “Microsoft Networking” > “Advanced Options”.
- Select “SMB 2.0” from the Highest SMB version drop-down menu.
- Click “Apply”.
