Settings That May Impact the Performance of the NAS
Applied models:
-
All NAS Series
Applied Firmware:
-
4.4.1 or above
You may experience performance issues for the NAS, this may be due to some settings applied on the shared folders or volumes, such as encryption or snapshots. You may wish to consider your preferences before applying these settings if performance is your primary concern, or if you are experiencing lower than expected performance, disabling these settings may improve the performance of the NAS.
-
SMB Encryption, this can be found in the NAS Control Panel > Privilege > Shared Folders > click on “Edit Properties” of desired shared folder.
-
Folder Encryption, this can be found in the NAS Control Panel > Privilege > Shared Folders > click on “Edit Properties” of desired shared folder.
-
Snapshot, This can be created in Storage & Snapshots > Storage/Snapshots > select a desired Volume and click “Snapshots” then “Snapshot Manager.
You may also want to confirm the performance of the hard drives if you are still experiencing issues even without the above settings applied, as the performance of the hard drives itself would impact the performance of the RAID array. This can be done from Storage & Snapshots > Disks/VJBOD > click on “Performance test”.
