QVR Pro Client, QVR Smart Client

Overview

The QVR Pro Client and QVR Smart Client help you manage IP cameras, monitor live views, and playback previous recordings from QVR Pro, QVR Center, QVR Elite, and QVR Recording Vault. You can install the QVR Pro Client on your Windows and macOS devices. The QVR Smart Client is available only for the QNAP HDMI Display.

Unfortunately, the maximum number of simultaneous channels depends on the CPU, RAM, and graphic acceleration options of the hardware you are using. This topic includes test results of several different hardware configurations that you can use as a reference for your own devices.

Testing details

The following sections include details on the specific testing methodology and hardware for the testing devices.

Testing method
  • Testing was conducted by connecting to a QVR Pro server and adding multiple streams.
  • All tests used VIVOTEK IP9167-HT cameras configured to use a Group of Pictures (GOP) setting of 30.
  • Testing concluded when the number of streams caused the CPU or GPU load to rise above 80%.
  • macOS doesn't currently support H.265 hardware decoding. Test results are based on software decoded streams.
