Do I need to set MPIO?

Release date: 2018-03-05

If it is supported by your system environment, it is recommended to use MPIO to connect the NAS (especially for virtual services) as it can significantly increase system efficiency and stability.

The VMware ESXi OS includes MPIO, and can support this connection without additional installation. As to whether it is supported by the underlying virtual machine, it depends on the type of Guest OS. Recent OS are equipped with the MPIO feature that supports the ALUA mechanism, which increases path switching efficiency. Hence, for OS such as Windows Server 2012 R2, MPIO can be directly installed and configured on the OS.
