How can I access the NAS remotely without port forwarding?

Concept

The myQNAPcloud Link service allows you to remotely access your device through the myQNAPcloud servers without exposing the NAS to the internet.

Note

During peak usage, you may experience slow performance of the myQNAPcloud Link. To improve speed and connection security, QNAP recommends connecting the NAS using a VPN.


Procedure

Follow the steps below to configure the myQNAPcloud Link feature:

  1. Sign in to the device as an administrator.
  2. Open myQNAPcloud.
  3. On the Overview screen, note the device name in the myQNAPcloud Device Name field.
  4. Disable Auto Router Configuration.
    1. Click > Auto Router Configuration.
      The UPnP Port Forwarding window opens.
    2. Disable UPnP Port Forwarding.
  5. Enable myQNAPcloud Link.
    1. Go to myQNAPcloud Link.
    2. Enable myQNAPcloud Link.
  6. Optional: Configure device access.
    1. Go to Access Control.
    2. Select a Device Access Controls option.
      • Private: Only allows access to your myQNAPcloud account.
      • Public: Allows access to anybody.
      • Customized: Only allows access to the specified myQNAPcloud accounts.
