Why is compression enabled by default in the ES NAS?

Last modified date: 2019-06-17

As ES NAS uses high-performance hardware and ZFS, test results show that data compression minimizes the use of computing resources and significantly reduces the data footprint without compromising performance.

Furthermore, compressing data can reduce back-end storage I/O load, and accelerate operations. Compression technology is not only employed in the ES NAS - SSD controllers are also equipped with the same feature for reducing I/O load, minimizing the impact to NAND flash chips and accelerating data access.
