Why do predictions from ULINK DA Drive Analyzer sometimes differ from S.M.A.R.T. warnings?

ULINK DA Drive Analyzer utilizes AI that has been trained on more than a million drives, whereas S.M.A.R.T. attributes and thresholds are defined by the drive manufacturer and may differ between brands. Because the two methods use different ways to determine drive health, their predictions may sometimes differ.

Although there is a high correlation between drive failure and certain S.M.A.R.T. thresholds being exceeded, a study has shown that over 30% of drives fail without any S.M.A.R.T. warning.

ULINK’s AI model is trained on real data over the lifetimes of many drives and across drives of different types and brands. The dataset also includes drives that have failed without exceeding S.M.A.R.T. thresholds. As the dataset grows, ULINK’s AI model will be able to provide more and more accurate predictions.
