How to configure AWS IAM for use with Cloud HAL Agent

About This Tutorial

The AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) portal manages access to AWS services and resources. IAM controls the creation & management of all AWS users and groups. Additionally, IAM controls user access to AWS resources.

This tutorial explains the basics of creating an IAM role for use with Cloud HAL Agent for QuTScloud. If you are already familiar with the AWS infrastructure, you can create a custom role that best fits your needs. When creating a customer role, ensure the proper permissions are assigned.

Creating a Group in AWS IAM

  1. Log in to AWS IAM.
  2. Go to Groups.
  3. Click Create New Group.

    The Create New Group Wizard opens.

  4. Specify the group name.
    1. Enter a group name.
    2. Click Next Step.
  5. Specify the group policies.
    1. Select the required policies.

      AmazonEC2FullAccess

      AmazonS3FullAccess

    2. Click Next Step.
  6. Review the group information.
  7. Click Create Group.

AWS creates the group.

Create a User in AWS IAM

  1. Log in to AWS IAM.
  2. Go to Users.
  3. Click Add User.

    The Add User window opens.

  4. Configure the user account.
    1. Enter a user name.
    2. Select Programmatic access.
    3. Click Next: Permissions.
  5. Specify the user permissions.
    1. Select the previously created group.
    2. Click Next: Tags.
  6. Optional: Add any required tags.
  7. Review the user information.
  8. Click Create User.

    AWS creates the user.

  9. Locate the secret key.
    1. Click Show.

      The secret key becomes visible.

    2. Note the secret key for use with Cloud HAL Agent.
