Why can't I set up Gmail as the SMTP server using Google OAuth in QTS 4.3.4 (and earlier)?

Details
As Google have updated the Gmail authentication method, the authentication method used by QTS 4.3.4 (and earlier) is no longer supported. Upgrading your NAS to use the latest firmware will allow you to use Notification Center to set up Gmail.
If your NAS is no longer supported and cannot be upgraded beyond QTS 4.3.4, you must use an alternative SMTP provider.
