Access files over the network & direct-attached via USB QuickAccess exclusively with QNAP’s newest SOHO/SMB NAS models

Pomona, CA – August 2, 2016QNAP just set the Networked Attached Storage market on its ear, again, by introducing the new TS-x51A series NAS (available in 2 and 4 bay models) with an exclusive QNAP innovation called the USB QuickAccess port which allows the NAS to be directly connected to a PC/Mac for instant access. This also grants performance around 100MB/sec when connected directly while also connected via Ethernet for traditional network access. This new combination in connectivity allows the NAS to function at optimal performance in SOHO/SMB environments for backup, remote access, file sharing, photo editing/content creation, and much more.

The TS-x51A series features the latest 14nm Intel® dual-core Celeron® processor that can burst up to 2.48GHz but only consumes 6W of energy, 6Gbit/sec SATA architecture, and 2 or 4GB dual-channel DDR3L-1600 RAM (expandable to 16GB). This series also supports 4K UHD video transcoding allowing you to transcode and stream videos to your HDTV or mobile devices in the required format. Like other QNAP NAS models, the TS-x51A models retain the front USB port for quick copying of content to the NAS and features a newly-added SD memory card slot, excellent for photographers for quick ingest of photos/videos. The new slim port on the front is the all new QuickAccess port for simultaneous direct connection to a PC/Mac while dual Gigabit Ethernet ports provide traditional network connection. Storage capacity can also be increased with optional expansion chassis.

The TS-x51A series is a DLNA®-compliant multimedia powerhouse with an HDMI 1.4b port capable of 4K@30Hz video playback which includes a remote control. This series also supports Plex Media Server as well as multiple streaming services including Chromecast™, AppleTV®, Amazon®FireTV, and Roku®.

The all new hardware is only half the story however. The TS-x51A series includes QNAP’s QTS 4.2 embedded NAS operating system with a wide selection of business and entertainment apps including Qsirch, the first natural search engine developed exclusively to quickly find anything on the NAS with a keyword/phrase search. Apps are included for managing storage & RAID levels, configuring automated backups, running virtual machines and containers on the NAS too. Like all QNAP NAS models, the TS-x51A features its own private cloud for secure remote access and iOS & Android mobile apps are available to stream content from the NAS via the private cloud. Truly amazing capabilities at a budget-friendly price point.
