Overview
In order to make better use of natural sunlight by aligning the waking hours with daylight hours, Daylight Savings Time (DST) is implemented by setting the clock ahead by one hour from the standard time during the summer, and setting the clock back by one hour during the winter.
DST varies in the northern and southern hemisphere, and applying DST settings ensures that the same time zone is implemented across different devices across all your devices (on premises and remote). Several switch operations and services rely on the underlying QSS operating system for DST and other time zone information.
To ensure that QSS synchronizes its system clock with the rest of the devices in the network, starting with version 1.3.0, users can enable and configure the DST settings. The earlier versions of QSS (versions 1.2.0 and earlier) do not support this DST feature. In order to comply with the DST changes and ensuring that managed switches continue to operate without being impacted by the time transition during the summer, DST can implemented in versions 1.3.0 and later.
Procedure
- Ensure that you update your managed switch to version 1.3.0 (or later).
- By default, DST settings are disabled on the switch.
- Log in to QSS.
- Verify that the firmware is updated is version 1.3.0 or later.
- Go to System > System Settings > Time.
- Configure the DST settings.
