QNAP HybridMount Now Supports AWS S3 Compatible Storage, Enabling Centralized Management for Businesses with Multi-cloud Environments

Taipei, Taiwan, March 10, 2020 – QNAP® Systems, Inc., a leading computing, networking, and storage solution innovator, today announced that the HybridMount File-based cloud gateway application now supports AWS S3 Compatible Storage, allowing users to map more diverse cloud storages to QNAP NAS for centralized management. By enabling caching in HybridMount, cloud-based files will automatically be stored to the cache space on NAS, greatly optimizing access times.
HybridMount’s remote mount function allows users to map public cloud storages to NAS and centrally manage them via File Station or Qfile. In addition to the currently supported 26 cloud storages (including File Storage and Object Storages), HybridMount now also supports AWS S3 Compatible Storage, allowing users to map non-natively supported cloud storages to NAS, providing users with more diverse cloud storage choices for higher flexibility in multi-cloud environment deployment.
HybridMount also features the cloud storage gateway function. By enabling local caching in HybridMount, the latest files on the cloud will automatically be saved in the SSD’s cache space (HybridMount Cache Volume) to improve storage usage efficiency and cache hit rate, while also optimizing first-time access speeds for cloud-based files. With HybridMount, users can use their usual access patterns (including SMB, FTP, AFP, NFS, and WebDAV) from their computers to access their cloud files via NAS.
In addition, businesses can use the proxy setting on their QNAP NAS to implement strict firewall rules to protect their network from unauthorized access. Proxy access control rules can be leveraged when using HybridMount to access the cloud with enhanced network security.
“HybridMount provides the dual benefits of centralized management and low-latency access to the cloud. Businesses can use HybridMount on NAS in different offices and map those NAS to the same cloud storage for file synchronization and sharing to achieve higher cross-site collaboration efficiency,” said Josh Chen, product manager of QNAP.
QNAP provides two free HybridMount lifetime licenses for users to build their hybrid cloud environment. Businesses can purchase licenses at the QNAP Software Store for adding cloud connections and easy scalability to meet company growth requirements.
HybridMount supports the following cloud storages (continuous integration):
Alibaba Cloud®, Amazon® Drive, Amazon® S3, Amazon® S3 Compatible Storage, Azure®, Backblaze® B2, Box®, Citrix® ShareFile®, Cynny® Space, DigitalOcean® Spaces, Dropbox®, Google Cloud™, Google Drive™, HiCloud®, HiDrive®, HKT®, HUAWEI® Cloud, IBM Cloud™, Microsoft® SharePoint®, OneDrive® for Business, OneDrive®, OpenStack®, Qcloud® IT, Qiniu®, Rackspace®, Wasabi®, Yandex® Disk
