Connecting an RTMP Camera to QVR Pro

Overview

This tutorial will walk you through how to connect a real-time messaging protocal (RTMP) camera to QVR Pro or QVR Elite.

Real-time messaging protocol (RTMP) is a communication protocol for streaming media data over the internet with low latency.

  • QVR Pro or QVR Elite

Getting Started

One RTMP stream requires one channel for recording.

You need to install a third-party live streaming encoding program to perform this task.

  1. Create an RTMP channel for recording and obtain the RTMP setting parameters.

    For details, see Creating an RTMP Channel.

  2. Configure the third-party software.

    For details, see Configuring a 3rd Party Software.

Basic Operations

Creating an RTMP Channel

  1. Connect an RTMP camera to the same network as your NAS.
  2. Open Camera Settings.
  3. Click + to add the first camera.
    Note:

    Click Add to add more cameras.

  4. Click Next.
    Note:

    RTMP cameras cannot be scanned.

  5. Click Add to add a camera.
  6. Select Generic Model for Brand.
  7. Select Generic RTMP for Model.
  8. Click .

    The Edit RTMP Streaming Settings window appears.

  9. Copy the RTMP link and Stream key.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Select Edit later and then click OK.
  13. Click Finish.

Configuring a 3rd Party Software

This topic uses OBS as an example to illustrate the configuration process. You can also use other third-party live streaming encoding programs.

  1. Download and install OBS from https://obsproject.com/.
  2. Open OBS.
  3. Go to Files > Settings > Stream.
  4. Paste the RTMP link and stream key and then click OK.
    Note:

    For encoder software that does not have an input box for keys, add KEY after the URL. For example: rtmp://192.168.70.109:10271/qvrpro/rtmp/vEL0ZrVw

  5. Click Start Streaming.

    OBS encodes and sends the stream to QVR Pro or QVR Elite.
