Why can't I play videos with VLC Player in Qvideo iOS?

Scenario

When selecting a video in the Qvideo iOS app, a prompt asks if you want to download or play the video. When you select Play, VLC does not play the video.

Solution

Note

VLC player is a third-party application and thus not maintained by QNAP.

Currently, this issue seems to be caused by the TLS version of VLC player. You may be able to resolve this issue by changing the TLS version compatibility on your NAS.

Go to Control Panel > System > General Settings
In the System Administration tab, enable Enable Secure Connection(HTTPS)
Under TLS version compatibility, select 1.2 and later.
Click Apply.

On your iPhone, verify if the issue is resolved.
