Yes, It is possible to expand the NAS storage pool with the HDDs plugged in the expansion unit TL-R1220Sep-RP, because it uses SAS JBOD, so model TL-R1220Sep-RP supports it, but SATA JBOD do not support storage pool expansion on models TL-R1200S-RP and TL-R1200C-RP.
