Analysis
QNAP routers use next generation Wi-Fi 6 for high-speed wireless connectivity. There could be a variety of possible causes for experiencing slower-than-normal network speeds even if you are using a QNAP router. You can identify and resolve most of the common network issues, including network congestion and increased bandwidth consumption.
Workaround
QNAP recommends the following to address internet connectivity issues:
- Use a network traffic analyzer to identify the network congestion endpoints that consume the most bandwidth and cause high network latency.
- Place the router in an elevated location to ensure the Wi-Fi signal is free from obstructions.
- If there are multiple guest networks enabled on the router, disable them temporarily to increase the bandwidth.
- Run a security scan to make sure that there is no spyware or malware infecting your network.
- Update the router's firmware to the latest version to install security patches.
- Check the Wireless Regulatory Domain Settings on your QNAP router using QuRouter. Make sure that the selected region matches the router's current location. For details, see the Enabling the Full Wireless Functionality in QuRouter topic QNAP router user guide.
If you continue to experience reduced network speeds, contact your network provider and check if the ISP's internal network is experiencing any network interferences or outages.
