How do I map a NAS shared folder as a network drive in Windows using Qfinder?
Applicable Products
- Qfinder (Windows version)
Overview
A network drive is a shared folder on another device (such as your QNAP NAS) that appears in File Explorer with its own drive letter, just like a local hard drive.
Mapping a shared folder as a network drive offers several benefits:
- Faster access: The folder appears directly in File Explorer, so you do not need to go to the NAS interface each time.
- Easier file management: You can open, save, and drag files to the shared folder the same way you would with any local drive.
Procedure
You can use Qfinder to map a shared folder on your QNAP NAS as a network drive on your Windows PC.
- Launch Qfinder, or download and install Qfinder if it is not already installed. Qfinder will list all QNAP NAS devices found on your network.
- Select the NAS you want to connect to, click Connect, then click Storage Plug & Connect.

- Enter the username and password for your NAS account, then click OK.
- From the folder list, select the shared folder you want to map, then click Map Network Drive.

- Choose a drive letter for the network drive.
- Finish the setup.
The shared folder now appears as a network drive in File Explorer.
